Begin with the passage
Acts 17:10–12; 2 Timothy 3:14–17; James 1:22–25
God first. Begin by asking Him for understanding, then read the whole passage. Notice who is speaking, who is being addressed and what comes before and after the verse that drew your attention.
Acts 17:10–12 describes people receiving the word and examining the Scriptures. Read it alongside the surrounding account. A willingness to examine is compatible with humility; it need not become suspicion toward every teacher.
Write what the passage says before writing what you hope it means. Distinguish an observation from an interpretation and an interpretation from a personal application. Questions are a useful part of study.
Second Timothy 3 connects Scripture with teaching, correction and preparation for good work. James 1 calls the reader beyond hearing into doing. Ask: What does this text teach about God? What should I understand more carefully? What faithful response follows?
Use the reader to search, read the surrounding chapter, save a passage and add a note. You are free to follow your own question. A completed study is a personal record, not a spiritual ranking.
